EDHS in its 10th year of operations

In fewer than ten years of successful operations, EDHS has achieved the results shown below.  While not quite as tangible but perhaps more significantly, EDHS has also (1) legitimized the importance of the Eastland Disaster, and (2) altered the collective historical consciousness regarding the Eastland Disaster for millions of people in the Chicago metropolitan area.  A few of our highlights over the past ten years are shown below.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 1999 1999
Chicago Century, a 30-minute TV program with ABC's Ron Magers, includes the Eastland Disaster.  Seen by thousands.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2000 2000
Titanic/Eastland exhibit (8 mos.) at the Museum of Science and Industry.   The Eastland Disaster portion of the exhibit was declared "the highlight of the entire exhibit" (Chicago Tribune, February 25, 2000).  The exhibit was toured by more than 800,000 visitors.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2001 2001
The Eastland Disaster, an hour-long feature documentary, premieres on Chicago Stories with PBS/WTTW-11's John Callaway.  The documentary wins two regional Emmy Awards and is seen by thousands each year as the program continues to be rebroadcast.

Lost on the Lakes exhibit (8 mos.) at the Berrien County Historical Society, Michigan.  Viewed by nearly 7,500 people.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2002 2002
America's Great Maritime Disaster exhibit (12 mos.) at the Michigan Maritime Museum.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2003 2003
Historical Marker rededication (Wacker Drive) with the Illinois State Historical Society.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2004 2004
The book, The Sinking of the Eastland: America's Forgotten Tragedy with author Jay Bonansinga, is released at major bookstores from coast-to-coast.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2005 2005
Working with Friedman Properties, the permanent photo essay at the Reid Murdoch Center is dedicated.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2005 2005
The Eastland Disaster is authored and published through Arcadia Publishing.   Available at major bookstores from coast-to-coast.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2006 2006
The Hawthorne Works Museum, including the Eastland Disaster, is dedicated at Morton College, Cicero.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2007 2007
A historical banner featuring the Eastland Disaster is installed (along Upper Wacker Drive) in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Transportation and Chicago Park District.
   
EDHS 10th anniversary 2008 2008
At The River's Edge: A historical and pictorial narrative with the Chicago Department of Transportation and Chicago Park District.
