"Survivor Story": ​Henry Zintak (Vantak)

Chicago, Illinois -- Henry Zintak (Vantak) brought his wife and his daughters, Helen, barely 16 years old, and Frances, on what he thought would be a day of merriment and joy. Rather than enjoying the fresh air and picnic festivities, he watched his wife and daughters drown as he struggled in the Chicago River for about half an hour before he was rescued.

Bob Leff

Chicago, Illinois -- It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the loss of Bob Leff, a dear friend and EDHS advocate and volunteer. Bob, who was married and had three children, passed away this past Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

Chicago, Illinois -- Stanley Filiposwki (Fillips) and Charles Agnastoklio (Agnos) were both excited to take the Eastland to Michigan City, Indiana, for a day of games, laughter, and celebration. That anticipation quickly turned into horror and panic as they both were plunged into the Chicago River.


EDHS Observes MLB Opening Day

Chicago, Illinois -- Today is a very joyous day for millions of baseball enthusiasts: it’s MLB Opening Day! Today brings the first of many happy, exciting, and, at times, anxiety ridden, days for fellow baseball enthusiasts. While millions of baseball fans cheer for their favorite team and chow down on hundreds of thousands of ballpark dogs, EDHS celebrates the 117th season of MLB by commemorating the eleven players of the Amateur Baseball Managers' clubs who lost their lives in the Eastland Disaster.


Exciting News about "Eastland: A New Musical"

Chicago, Illinois -- Eastland: A New Musical, written by Andrew White, premiered in 2012 at the Lookingglass Theatre in Chicago. In 2015, the Renegade Theater Company in Duluth, Minnesota, re-staged it. Now, after five years of diligence and perseverance, the EDHS is nearing the day when it will promote and license the Eastland musical across the country.
