From The Executive Director: EDHS Announces Next Chapter In Its Organizational History

Chicago, Illinois -- After nearly twenty-one years of honoring those affected by Chicago’s deadliest disaster, we have exciting news regarding the next chapter in the history of the Eastland Disaster Historical Society (EDHS). Beginning this month, we will be transitioning EDHS from being a family-run, not-for-profit organization to becoming a key asset within several iconic Chicago area institutions.

 

 

 


The Historical Society of Forest Park's Eastland Disaster Cemetery Bus Tour

Chicago, Illinois -- On Sunday, July 29, 2018, the Historical Society of Forest Park is hosting a multi-cemetery bus tour of the Eastland Disaster victims’ graves. The tour will include Forest Home Cemetery, Concordia Cemetery, and Jewish Waldheim Cemetery, all located in Forest Park. All tour participants will receive a copy of the Historical Society of Forest Park’s 2015 booklet containing the locations, photographs, and biographies of the victims buried in Forest Park.


103rd Anniversary Weekend Events

Chicago, Illinois -- In addition to the 103rd Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony on Sunday, July 22nd, there are two additional events this weekend commemorating the Eastland Disaster.


103rd Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony

Chicago, Illinois -- For the 19th consecutive summer, the Eastland Disaster Historical Society will host the anniversary commemoration for Chicago's greatest loss-of-life tragedy on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. We hope you will join us at the Chicago Riverwalk for this year's commemoration ceremony, and then follow with us over to Barbara's Bookstore to attend Patricia Sutton's book signing event. Whether you have joined us in previous years or are considering attending for your first time, all are welcome to participate.
