As soon as news of the disaster reached the Western Electric Company's officers, an appropriation of $100,000 is made by the Company for immediate relief.  Of this amount, $15,489.91 is paid out in the first few days in emergency cash relief.

Funeral bills totalling $75,806.37 are paid by the Western Electric Company.  The Company also paid for supplies used in rescuing victims, and turns over a balance of $5,000 to the American Red Cross Relief Fund.

The Western Electric Company's expenditures from its emergency relief fund exceed the $100,000 by $601.47.
