The Christmas Schooner has become a beloved holiday tradition at the Bailiwick Repertory Theatre in Chicago over the last eight years - it is a wonderful look at families and tradition. Schooner tells the story of Peter and Alma Stossel, whose pioneering spirit is full of the energy and dreams of America in the 1870's. With the help of Peter's young son Karl and the companionship of Gus, Peter's father from the Old Country, their voyage of the Molly Doone across Lake Michigan is an exciting theatrical tale.
Fullof beautiful music, lively dances, and a great sense of drama, The Christmas Schooner is perfect for all members of the family (age 6 or older). It teaches us to honor our ancestors, remember our histories, and celebrate the living. It has many parallels with the story of the Eastland Disaster.
A cash bar (with non-alcoholic beverages and snacks) will be available before and after the benefit performance. Please come early and visit with us and the many others who share a common interest in the Eastland Disaster. Each of the 165 seats at the Bailiwick is a great seat! But this also means that seating is very limited. So don't delay - order your tickets today! Your friends and neighbors are welcome, too!
