Augusta Wiese and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Rakow, boarded the Eastland together on their way to the Western Electric employee picnic. Augusta's daughter Minnie and son-in-law Daniel Quinn and their daughter Lauretta were to have joined them for the picnic as well. But Daniel Quinn and his wife Minnie got into an argument and they ended up returning home instead. Grandmother Augusta and Granddaughter Elizabeth both perished that morning.
...ended up returning home...
